#GivingTuesday™ is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations.
That’s one heck of a mission statement I’m proud to be sharing today.
New York’s 92nd Street Y has been the catalyst and incubator for #GivingTuesday, bringing the expertise of 139 years of community-management to the project, and providing #GivingTuesday a home.
The United Nations Foundation joined as partners, bringing their strategic and communications clout to the project.
As I lay in bed last night, pondering what I was going to write about for #GivingTuesday, I couldn’t help but to give thanks over and over for my life. It’s a truly blessed one I lead.
That’s why, today, I ask my friends and readers to give back. We all give differently, and it doesn’t matter how we give. But today, I’d love for you to take a few minutes and think about how you give back and if you’re motivated, donate something, anything.
You are the key to creating and supporting #GivingTuesday! Choose your favorite cause and make a contribution of time or money on or around #GivingTuesday!
Search on the #GivingTuesday Partners page for organizations with #GivingTuesday actions in your area. Or look at the hundreds of national charities and pick a cause close to your heart. Whatever it is, commit to a giving action today.
More than 2,000 recognized #GivingTuesday™ partners have come from all 50 states of the United States, and are either registered charities [a 501(c)3] with a specific #GivingTuesday initiative, or they are for-profit businesses, schools, religious or community groups who have committed to spearhead a project that will benefit at least one 501(c)3.
If you can’t donate financially, donate a tweet or three, volunteer in your community, drop in on your elderly neighbor. However you choose to give, it counts.
