I love gaming. I’m not a hardcore gamer playing WoW, but I’ve played my fair share of D&D games in my day and now video games. We’ve also got some family favorites in our house as well, quite a few by Ubisoft: Raving Rabbids, Just Dance, and Shaun White Skateboarding.
When they offered me a chance to play Horse Haven on Facebook and gave me free credits to donate to Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue, I was in. Most of the games I have on Facebook are played by my son, however at one time I was a heavy duty Facebook gamer. And if I can play video games and participate in acts of social good, the better.
I’m also a horse lover. When I was growing up, my uncle farmed the old family homestead and preferred a horse and plow to his tractor. Snowball was an old workhorse who didn’t mind kids crawling all over her and sneaking rides while we were visiting the farm. Those memories are strong within me. While I don’t live a lifestyle that allows me to have a horse, I try and go ride when I can, but that’s not as often as I like.
Thanks to Ubisoft and Facebook, I’ve been cleaning my horse, Milly, feeding her, and mucking the manure pile, without breaking a sweat. Total win in my book.
Horse Haven is a fun game to play when you need a little downtime. I enjoy cleaning up my friends and petting their horses, while on my farm I’m mucking stalls, caring for and breeding horses, training my horses to win competitions and improving my ranch. After I’m done taking care of my ranch, I head out to visit my neighbors to pet their horses and clean up in order to get special prizes and cash I can use on my farm.
You can send gifts to your friends, however my tactic is to send my friends gifts of items I need, like energy, in order to play longer. While I’ve heard of other Mac users experiencing issues, I’ve not had any to date. However, I tend to game on a PC and do believe the faster processor and large amount of RAM on my machine is an added bonus when playing.
But, what I really love about Horse Haven? Is that you the proceeds spent on this game go to Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue. Angel Acres is a non-slaughter horse rescue facility helping owners who might not be able to care for their horses and also pulling horses from the kill pen. Via the rehabilitation and adoption process, these horses are adopted into loving homes where they can live out their life in happiness.
I’ve enjoyed playing Horse Haven and will continue to play. Peanut has enjoyed playing Horse Haven, however in true 11 year old boy fashion, felt it could use some villains that were out to try and take over the ranch that he could fight off with light sabers, or the Death Star.
