Four Festive Christmas Cocktails

Christmas is a time for entertaining and festivities. We’re getting in the spirit of the season with these great Christmas cocktails. Perfect for winter, you’ll use the recipes over and over until the spring thaw.

1. Hot Buttered Rum. We love the recipe from Eugene Walter’s “The Happy Table of Eugene Walter: Southern Spirits in Food and Drink”. He describes it as “a great drink and positively remedial for folks with colds, influenza, or fatigue or after visits from cousins.” Believe me, we agree. (via Garden and Gun)

2. Eggnog . What would Christmas be like without a glass of eggnog? We’ve hunted high and low for the best eggnog recipes on the planet and our favorite to date comes from the Four Roses Life Magazine advertisement circa 1936. (via Bourbon Blog)

3. Wassail has been a traditional part of English Christmas celebrations since the 13th century. We’re down for any cocktail that incorporates the Southern favorite Madeira wine. (via Epicurious)

4. Brandy Milk Punch is milky decadence served cold. Leaning to the sweet side, this clever cocktail disguises the punch it packs, so it’s best served on a night when you’re sitting by the fire, watching the lights on your tree twinkle. (via Always Order Dessert)

Minted: Inspiration from Exceptional Design

Stationery and paper stores grab my attention. Even in the digital world, I still prefer paper as my medium of choice. I’m also a firm believer in the hand-written thank you note. In this day and time of mass commercialism, I love that I can go to Minted and find unique products not available in every big box store popping up on each corner to select products that are uniquely me. Minted products will find their way into your most personal celebrations. I’m currently obsessed with the Minted Inspiration Boards. When I landed on the Wedding Inspiration Boards, I could do nothing but sit and sigh for what seemed to be hours. I love the careful thought the designers (and real people like me, who play at being designers) have put into each board and if I had space, would share each and every one here.

What’s great about the Inspiration boards at Minted is that it’s a community effort. They uncover great design by ongoing competition and if your design is selected to sell, you receive a portion from each sale of your product.

Personally, I’m working on creating a board for my Grandmother’s 80th birthday in April. We’re having a party for her and I can think of no better way to share ideas with my family than an Inspiration board.
