New Look Coming and Catching Up

April 22, 2012 by Lisa 1 Comment

I’m kind of excited. Wait, let me take that back. I’m VERY excited. Daily Pinch is being redesigned! It’s taken me months to find the look I was wanting, but what’s coming is me. Totally me.

Don’t get me wrong, the design I have now is me, but it’s a younger me and I’m needing the me that’s grown and evolved.

This is also why I’ve been kind of quiet lately. Racking your brain for design ideas will do many things. So much, it deserves a list.

  • Trying to find the right design idea with make you cry
  • Trying to find the right design idea will burn the images of multiple pages of stock photos into your retinas.
  • Wine will suddenly become a necessity when working on design ideas
  • Color themes will become the bane of your very existence
  • Dreaming in color might be normal for you, but dreaming like you’ve been drugged becomes the normal. Timothy Leary doesn’t realize he didn’t need LSD, he just needed web design.

I’m getting back on track this week, but to say I’ve been out of the loop is a given. My knee is feeling much better, my back is still wonky. The dust bunnies in my house are mocking me on a daily basis right now. I’ve got some exciting new projects coming up, which I can’t wait to announce.

Life is good over at Daily Pinch. I can’t wait to share!

Blogging Fabulosity!

January 26, 2011 by Lisa 3 Comments

Thanks to Trop 50 for sponsoring my writing about fabulous bloggers. This year Trop50 is granting 50 fabulous wishes. Click here to enter for a chance to win $1,000 to help grant a friend’s wish!

I’m called a blogger, meaning I keep and update a blog. However, I am a lot more than that. I’m a wife, a mother, a business woman, and gatekeeper to all that is crazy. I share my life publicly and am okay with that. So, when I was given the opportunity to write about five of my favorite blogs, I jumped at the chance. Now, they aren’t always the same, but I do find myself going back to the same ones, over and over again. They are my ideals of blogging fabulosity.

DesignerWifeis written by my dear friend, Lindsay Maddox. Trust me, when my iGoogle opens, that is the first thing I read. I love her style, her nutty way of putting things and her Vlogs are EPIC. Lindsay inspires me to be a better blogger and a better person. If you aren’t reading her, you are missing out on ways to design your own fabulous life.

Where would I be without Angela England? She is a self-proclaimed “Renaissance Woman” and darn tootin’ she is. This girl can do anything. Teach you SEO, while homeschooling her kids, edit Blissfully Domestic and whip a room into a state of ooh’s and ahh’s with her profound knowledge. Did I mention without breaking sweat? With one hand? It does take a lot of Dr. Peppers, though. I was lucky enough to meet her last fall at Type-A Parent Conference and became a fan (and friend) quickly.

Leticia Barr is my tech-savvy friend over at Tech Savvy Mama. Her blog has been my go-to for quite some time for tech tips, as well as for the most current items regarding Internet safety and our children. My son is growing up in world unlike one we have ever seen with the availability of information and I want to have the latest news so I’m a well-informed parent.

Amanda Soule, how can you go wrong with her blog. You can’t, people.SouleMamais like sitting in front of a chocolate cake when you have PMS. You can imagine the carnage as your rip through he site, destined to find more. More like, I want to live in a farmhouse, with a wood heater and knit and craft beautifully. Yes, yes I do. I have to repeat that affirmation, as my husband and son are bona fide city slickers.

One of my idols and favorite blogs is The Pioneer Woman. I’m sorry, but it’s like one big girl crush over here. I want to be her next door neighbor. Seriously. I have to read her blog in my reader, because if I get stuck on her site, I am there for hours, days at times. It’s quite possible that I forget to take care of necessary bodily functions reading her blog and find myself sprinting to the bathroom so I don’t flood my office. Sorry if that’s TMI, but she is amazeballs.

These are five of my randomly selected favorites and my list changes daily. Blogging is an amazing forum and has connected me in ways I didn’t know possible to this world. I like to think all bloggers are part of one great-big dysfunctional family. One I am proud to be a member of.

Don’t forget to enter the 50 Fabulous Wishes contest for a chance to win $1,000 to support a friend’s wish. I was selected for this Tropicana Trop50 sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do. I received compensation to use and facilitate my post.

Asheville, Social Media, Blogging and Type-A Mom’s

September 27, 2010 by Lisa Leave a Comment

I don’t have a lot to say this morning. Which on any normal day would make people stare at me like I have two heads. Today is just not a day for talking or writing. Instead, I am going to spend my day reading notes and recapping events of the last four days at the Type-A Mom Conferencein Asheville, NC. My weekend was an amazing time spent with 350 fantastic women, all different, yet all with one common goal. To be the best bloggers we can be.

While I could sit here and give you a full recap, what I really need to do is have some downtime. Napping would have fantastic. However, I will be typing up my notes, sending a lot of emails, getting media kits ready to mail out and working on my calendar. Also, to give a full recap wouldn’t be fair when I haven’t had time to process it all.

So for now, I am home working and pondering the best way to give you the experience that was Type-A Mom 2010. In the words of the Grateful Dead, “What a long strange trip it’s been.”
