A Firecracker July 4th Week

It’s been a firecracker July 4th week around here. My family and I have been from one event to another since last Friday. Not to worry, all will be showing up on A Daily Pinch in the next week, but I do believe I’m to the point I’m a little overwhelmed and need a short break.

When you’re a professional blogger, you never really have a day off. I always have my Flip cam and trusty camera on me, as well as a notebook. You never know when you’re going to run across something to share. I’ve also had some female issues and my hormones are way out of whack. As a woman trying to do it all, let’s just say when you get to this point, you feel as if you’re flailing your arms wildly, expecting a big gust of wind to pick you up and help float you along.

Tomorrow, I’m going to sit on the beach and take pictures. Turn my cell phone off and not worry about life for a little while. I need to find some balance and this will be the best way. Surf, sun and sand. My true balancers.

I won’t leave you hanging, but tempt you with what’s coming after my self-imposed hiatus.

  • Cirque du Soleil was at the NASCAR Hall of Fame this week. Can’t wait to show off the pics of the performance.
  • Cirque du Soleil’s Alegria coming to Charlotte! I did a sneak preview in Raleigh Wednesday night and can’t wait to share posts, video and images. There might even be some fun giveaways coming!
  • Jamestown in Charlotte? That’s right. It’s coming to the history museum.

Quite frankly, there a few things on my list for Tuesday.

My husband travels frequently and this handy-dandy tool will be perfect for him to take on the road for those pesky deodorant stains we are prone to.Germs-B-Gone is going into my cart as well. Since I will be traveling more in the coming year, this will be the perfect addition to my purse. It contains a travel size sanitizing lotion, soap and gel. My germ-a-phobe friends will covet this, I guarantee.

Also, I have started wearing more dresses. It’s the girly-girl in me. However, some of the bras that I need to wear with my dresses don’t afford me the coverage I need. So, I am looking at adding the VaVa Voom Silicone Reusable Nipple Covers. I realize that on Sex and the City Miranda wore Samantha’s fake nipples and got a reaction from every man in the room. However, this is not NYC; and while I don’t mind a display of cleavage, showing nipples due to a sheer bra is not my idea of proper decorum. There needs to be some mystery ladies.

Sadly, my list here is a partial one. There is more to add as I peruse GO-GIRL’S shop before Tuesday. Every one of these items would make great Christmas gifts for my girlfriends. However, I have to be careful, or my husband might hide my credit card!

Downtime Difficulties.

We are on vacation. It’s been an interesting trip so far. Down time has been difficult for me to come by. Now, don’t get me wrong, plenty has been available, but I am having a difficult time winding down and leaving “work” behind. With quite a few active social media accounts I handle, my job at SavvySource and multiple blogs…well, is there any such thing as downtime? Oh and before I forget, the new redesign and launch of Daily Pinch. Which a lot of vacation time admittedly has been spent on.

Time to breathe.

Did I mention I created and branded a new blog that shall remain anonymous?

So, I am officially on vacation now. I will be tweeting some, writing some travel posts and tweaking the small things that need to be completed on this site; but for now I am taking a breather

It feels good to get past it all and actually enjoy my downtime.

    I’m all for color and I’m not opposed to redesigning classic pieces, but I have to admit these are the ugliest cuckoo clocks I’ve ever seen.

    While traditional Cuckoo clocks are not my thing, this one, by Stefan Strumbel, could fit the bill quite nicely. It’s fun, edgy and girly all at the same time. Plus, the kitsch factor is off the charts!
