It’s summertime and that means I am actually taking things easy. I’m not writing as much, mainly due to lack of inspiration, but I am writing in my journal. Journaling has been a cathartic experience and I’m not sure why I ever stopped. Well, I have a good idea as to why I did, but a gal has to keep some things to herself.
I sat here looking at the screen a few days ago, thinking about my social media accounts, this blog, as well as other things and it occurred to me that I was tired and I have been tired for sometime. So I scheduled a massage for the pinched spot underneath my shoulder blade and have decided it’s time to take better care of myself. I’m not looking for kudos or celebratory comments. Sometimes you just need to say things out loud and let them drift out over the waves and off into the void.
Well, I say I’m taking things easy. I’ve taken on three new social media clients — I had stopped all social media work, but sometimes juicy assignments land in your inbox and you have to flip the switch from red to green.
But, I’ve realized there are too few summers in our lives and that we need to enjoy them to the fullest. Looking back and sighing over what could have been makes for a weary soul and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. I’ll leave off with one of my favorite summertime songs “Summertime” as sung by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. I think everyone needs a little more First Lady of Song and Satchmo in their lives.
