Summer is slowly winding down, and before we know it, fall will be here. The signs are there if you’re looking close enough — leaves are falling off the trees, some of the leaves are changing early, and squirrels are starting to fatten up. Kids head off to school with new backpacks and sharpened pencils. My yearly summer lovin’ is almost over.
While autumn is my favorite season, I’m going to miss summer. Picnics with my family, drives during cool evenings with the windows down and the breeze blowing through my hair. I’ll miss the rays of the sun beating down, warming me to my bones. Losing the ability to swim outside and at the beach when it gets too cool is the most difficult. The water balances me and I’m most at home when surrounded in the blazing sun, diving and exerting my body lap after lap.
Yet, it won’t be too long, fall and winter will be gone spring will be here, and summer will be right around the corner.
