Like every normal woman, I feel that if I look good, then I feel good. Problem is, there are so many products on the market created to bring out our inner beauty. It creates a mass of confusion and there are a lot of hours used in the quest for inner tranquility, which frankly, sometimes comes via my appearance.
Shallow? I think not. Every woman, I don’t care who they are, identifies with how they look.
They spend anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours each day obsessing over how they look. I don’t spend hours, but I can guarantee you that I lose at least five minutes daily wondering what I can do differently.
My search for the perfect mascara has caused much pain. Not pain in the physical sense, but at 36, I don’t have the lashes I had at 16. In order to try and recreate those glorious long lashes, let’s just say I have tried a lot of mascaras. However, being somewhat budget conscious, I don’t want to spend as much on mascara as I do foundation. But, as a change was in order, I had to perform some research.
Physicians Formula’s Organic Wear Mascara was my first victim. We are pretty well “green” in our household and I have been buying natural/organic formulations as I ran out of my tried and true products. It goes on well, but due to the lack of thickener, binders, etc. that traditional mascaras would have, it falls a little flat. My lashes looked beautifully tinted, but sparse. It also flaked and rubbed off quite easily. I am not a waterproof mascara fan, but I would like for it to stay put for eight hours. This washes off easily, without eye makeup remover.
While I was at Chanel mascara. I think it’s because I paid an outrageous amount for the gold Chanel nail polish! The Exceptionnel de Chanel is probably the most divine mascara I have used in years. My lashes were long, lush, voluminous, and sexy. They took on a life of their own! “Erotically charged” is how my husband referred to them. Definitely needs makeup remover and even then you might not get it all off. I woke up a few times looking like a raccoon in need of a vacation., they gave me a great sample of the new
Next on the list was Sephora’s Atomic Volume Mascara. Priced in the middle of the Physicians Formula and Chanel mascaras at $16, I would consider it a good buy. It has another one of those unique brushes, like the Exceptionnel that is more teeth than brush. It separates my lashes well and they have incredible length. I think my lashes look great, but I am not sure about the feel of it. I feel that they are too stiff and they want to stick together. All in all though, it’s a pretty good mascara. Another one you can wash off without eye makeup remover, but I wouldn’t suggest it.
If I had to stick with one of these, it would be the Exceptionnel by Chanel. However, at $30 a tube, I will probably go back to my tried and true Cover Girl Pro. While I buy cosmetics across all areas and I have never made cost an issue, I would rather spend my money on a great foundation or face primer. Then again, I could say the hell with it and purchase it anyway.
