There is this great meme that is running around on the interwebz called Tuesday Tunes and this week, I’m jumping in. Music keeps me going. I listen to it when I’m up, when I’m down; let’s face it, I just like to jam.
Lately, I’ve been on a Foo Fighters kick. I love head on rock and roll and this song hits me right in the gut. While all the lyrics might not ring true for me, the one line “is someone getting the best of you” send chills up and down my spine.
While out and about daily, whether online or in public, I hear and see people being the worst to….themselves. Negative self talk, anger, rage, melancholy, glass always empty. Giving our best isn’t always possible, but at some point every day, we need to give our best, even if only to ourselves.
It’s a reminder. That someone should get my best, whether it’s me, someone in my family, my employer, so on and so forth. In fact, I’ve turned that one line into a daily mantra “yes, someone is getting the best of me.”
After all, when it all boils down at the end of the day, the person looking back at you in the mirror is…you.
