I’ve been taking some time off over the past 10 days — a nice respite. After the epic face-plant of 2013, I needed some downtime. A sore mouth and body does a lot to your personality and it’s not something I want to subject others.
What has happened during my respite?
Most important, I’ve been allowing my body time to heal. I was scraped from one end to the other and just… sore. That’s the only way to put it. I was sore and waiting for a tooth that seemed permanently numb to become “normal” again.
This little part-time vacation has been good for me as well. I’ve spent a lot of time outside in the sun, enjoyed the snow that fell this past Saturday with my family, and have taken time to get back to basics. Normally, I’m very much a “go, go, go!” person — there’s a reason my husband calls me a whirling dervish.
Not all of this has been fun and games. Well, it has, because I love what I do, but during my time off I’ve soft-launched a new site, Straight Up Crafty with Leticia Barr, and have been working on the new redesign for Daily Pinch. I’m also in the midst of planning a great trip to Atlantic City for the Social Media Moms group I moderate.
I promise it’s been a respite. Cross my heart!
I’m feeling more creative than ever and even though I have a lot going on, it feels good. I’m a work horse. I love it. It’s exciting to be under the gun and getting it all done.
But the break has been nice and I won’t forget that I need down time more often.
